I love the way a lot of EMS bloggers tell a story and take the time to explain some of the technical stuff. I take it for granted that only EMS read this and even if they did, I need to get better at writing it out.

I can always expect a surprise when I think "What will today bring?" And it always brings good interesting pts. Today it was joyful parents.

What helps me with my blog is that I use it to show everyone why I love what we do, day in and day out. I made the conscious decision to stay away from complaining about things and keep to my thoughts about my patients and our shared experiences. Of course some of that was because I choose not be annonymous and my managers are fully aware of what I write and read my blog regularily.
I am a very open person, I talk alot at work and I treat my readers as if they are sitting next to me in the ambulance. I believe you have to be true to yourself in your blog, say what you feel and what you think. People can read between the lines anyway even if you try to hide your true feelings. Get it all out there, good and bad..... It's great cheap therapy!!

But to have a pt waiting 1.5 or more hours so he can talk to drug reps is unacceptable and he will lose pts by word of mouth.

Pharmecutical companies have reps who just walk in, and see the doctor, while patients who have appointments have to wait.

I walked out on my doctor today aftewr waiting 1.5 hours. He was "in a meeting" with the 3 reps who came in 20 mins after my scheduled time.

Things like uniforms, training, and union dues should be deductible.

Mileage is generally not deductible unless it's to somewhere other than your usual place of work. So, you can't deduct your usual commute to and from your assigned station, but if you have to go from your assigned station to a different location (like to another city/town for training or meetings), those trips may be deductible.

Also, contrary to popular belief, food is generally not deductible unless you're required to be traveling away from your primary workplace. The other case when you'd be able to deduct food cost is if you were required (by your employer) to contribute to a communal meal fund.

I've worked with firefighters, EMTs, and medics who deducted their meals and miles, and were lucky enough not to be audited. My tax professional and his colleagues tried their best to find where that's allowed, but was unable to.

You must think I'm rude not replying to your comments on my blog. All I can say is I'm sorry it's taken so long. Basically COOCOOCACHOO means 'An expression of great exitement, or emotion' now I didn't know this. The reason why I have this in my url is because it's my username on some of the forums I visit. I am a medic, I'm also a firefighter. I can understand the frustration from both ends. Most firefighters want to fight fires, its what we're trained for. But the face of the fire service is changing which is why some places have such a problem between fire and private or third service ambulance providers. My career has been somewhat nomadic, I've worked for two fire services, one a non transporting service the other (current) a fully stocked ALS paramedic transport and fire service. I've worked privates, hospital based and a third service. But a lot of people, unlike me, settle in one place and don't have too many differing views. Chalk up his ill tempered attitude to someone who is having difficulties adjusting to being both a firefighter and a paramedic.

My name is Richard Elmore and i would like to show you my personal experience with Seroquel.

I am 17 years old. Have been on Seroquel for 1.5 years now. I am currently trying to come off it, but my anexiety has been through the roof, and even 2mg of extended release xanax isnt working

I have experienced some of these side effects-
the biggest one is weight gain, i have to take at least 600mg at bed time for it to work.

When I was doing the pscyhological testing for the army, one of the questions was "can you stand as much pain as the next person". It had to be answered "Y" or "N", but I wrote a question mark.

As a result, I had to see a psychologist, who asked what I meant.

I told him:

"If you come and punch me on the nose, then I punch you on the nose, how are you going to determine who stood the most pain?"

He shook his head and muttered something about, "why couldn't you just tick the obvious answer, everyone else does".

He didn't seem realise his statement was as daft as the question.

Strange to say, I actually "passed" the psych tests...
