Blessings and Answered prayers

I spent Saturday afternoon with my dear friend Donna.  We've known each other from church for a few years, and only just gotten to know each other in the last month when I started going to her and Linda's Sunday School class studying Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado.  What a blessing!  I even let her in on a terrible secret about my home...mouse doodie under the sinks.  Under the kitchen sink is the worst.  We'd put a chunk of mouse poison under there thinking the mice would eat it all.  No.  The damp rid I had in a carton absorbed moisture and that moisture leaked from the carton and melted some of the poison and made a terrible nasty mess.  Can you say EEWWWW!!!!!?   Eeeww.     Lots and lots of eeewwwws!!!   Ok.  Now the challenge.  Clean it up THIS WEEK.  I know it will not take me that long to do it.  All  I need is to don yellow rubber gloves, scream eeewww as I pick up the poison, scream eeewww as I throw it in the trash bag and then look and say "well, that took all of 20 seconds to do."  Then vacuum the poop and wipe it all down with straight bleach.  Not watered down.  That will be the absolute worst part.  Then I can clean the cabinet and all the dishes in it.

These dishes are not the ones we eat off of.  I'm finally going to go through all my dishes and pick out my absolute favorites and donate the rest to a thrift store. I could have a finger food party for about 50 people.  That is way too many dishes for two people.  This way I'll have room for my tiny "collection" of waffle griddles.  Two people, three waffle griddles.  I promise not to buy anymore until all three burn out.

I love being accountable to someone else for my challenge.  Donna's challenge to clean out a small closet.  I know it won't take her long.  Just 15 minutes at a time for both of us and we'll have faced some cleaning giants.

By now you're probably asking where the answered prayer part is.  I'm pretty sure it's in the challenge to clean and I forgot to say that Donna is going to help me with my living room.  By thrifting and reusing, she's going to come into my home and look at it with fresh eyes and make it a haven.  I'm pretty sure it's in my journal that I prayed for help.  Help with cleaning and help with making it a home.

Me and Trav spent Sunday either on the couch or in bed.  He works nights and tries to keep to the schedule even on weekends.  I developed an awful sore throat Saturday night.  I just watched old movies and the cat stayed with me on her favorite blanket in front of the heater.  Some good movies to watch when you're sick are:

Grown Ups with Adam Sandler   Super funny!  Enjoyed every minute of it.
Part of   The Mystery of Mr. Wong  (1939 with Boris Karloff)  I'd seen it before and had forgotten.  VERY good.
Two William Powell movies - Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid and The Kennel Murder Case.  Both very very good.
Karate Kid- the new one.  I love that movie.

I was so in the mood to finish the British series William and Mary.  But disc 2 from netflix was cracked.  Booo.  I'll get the replacement tomorrow.  I can put it on after Trav goes to work and while I clean under my sink.

Seriously, ewww about the mice. Someday I will have to share our mouse story with you. You will DIE. DECON is the best rat killer I've ever used. Cheap too.
When we moved, I was trying to get rid of some serving pieces I picked up at goodwill here and there, by the time I finished, ahem, I think I only got rid of four...well, baby steps...LOL Hope your throat feels better.
